Crazy Hair Day

Every year Brittany's middle school has crazy hair day. She didn't know what to do, but decided on just making it messing. Lot's of weird hair clips and colored spray. This is how she left the house this morning. What a sight she was.

You should have seen the other kids being dropped off if you think this is bad.

I hope someone doesn't call child protective services on me for letting her out of the house like this. LOL

My Boo Decor

I've decorated a little bit around the house for Halloween. Here is some stuff I've put out.

This is a silver tray that I painted with black chalkboard paint and added ribbon to the back. It hangs on our wall. I can write whatever I want in this space for the changing Holidays. Right now it read's, Happy Halloween! A mini-chalkboard!

Here is some white pumpkins and a jar of spiders I created that reads "Eek!" They sit next to the kids Disneyland silhouette pictures. Don't you think they our a little creepy looking? They remind me of something you would find in the Haunted Mansion around this time of year.

And check out our scary witch in the spirit ball. She is motion activated. When you walk by her she starts to talk to you. It's pretty cool.

Her eyes light up while her head sways back and forth. She says a couple different phrases.

I thought she would be fun to sit outside to scare the trick or treaters that walk up to the door. We haven't been able to use it though since we are gone before they start to arrive. So we keep her inside for us to enjoy for now.

Every year I add more. Last year I bought a ton of decorations for Jared's Indiana Jones birthday party. I didn't set it all out again because the clean up is a big job. I'm saving it for when we do have a Halloween party. I'll be willing to do it then. I can't wait till more decorations go on sale in the stores. I'll probably grab some more for next year if they are a good deal. I hit up Walmart especially after every Holiday. It get some bargains that way.

Babies Ready for Halloween

Madison is ready for Halloween this year. It's her first and we are having lots of fun dressing her up. She's got several costumes to choose from. I'm not sure which she should wear? I'm gonna take her picture in all her outfits and even though she'll only be wearing one for Halloween. This is what I put her in today. Isn't she cute?

I made her Halloween bow and everything. I think she looks good with some ribbon on her head. Makes her look more like a girl. I'm going to keep making more if she'll wear them.

You think she's cute now, just wait till you see her other outfits. I'll be posting them this weekend and all our Halloween trick or treating pictures. We are going with some of my husbands Cousins this year. They want to try our area this time with their kids because they didn't do well in their neighborhoods last Halloween. They'll be lots of kids to take pictures of. Should be an eventful, fun filled evening. So come back soon to see more.

Now and Then

Yesterday I realized that Madison was wearing the same sleeper as the picture I was looking at of baby Jared in 2001. I hung on to most of the kids clothes and now Madie is wearing them. It's funny to think they were that small once. Here is the old picture of Brittany with Jared. That was then....

and this is now. Here is Brittany recreating that picture (7 years later) only this time it's with baby Madie.

Jared looks all grown up next to Madison here. Boy they grow up fast.

Another Halloween Treat

I made another Halloween treat for my kids. This one is sooooo easy to make and doesn't cost a lot either. You take rice crispy treat bars and dip them into melted chocolate. I used more Almond Bark and melted it in the microwave. I placed the chocolate coated crispy treats on wax paper and sprinkled candy toppings before it set. In just a few minutes they were ready to eat. I put them in clear treat bags to give a few away this holiday weekend.

Look at how delicious they turned out!

Remember when they were this little?

I love looking at old pictures of Brittany & Jared. They grow so fast and it was not that long ago.

No Sew Halloween Project

I wanted to make a personalized trick or treat bag for Madison. I know she won't be using it this year, but maybe the next. It was so simple to make and there was no sewing involved. This is how I did it.

First I started with an ordinary boring book bag I had on hand. It use to look like this.

Next I cut black fabric to cover the red screen print I didn't want to show.

Then I cut out an orange pumpkin from some Halloween material I had.

I followed that with the letter M I cut from black polka dot fabric.

I used some Heat and Bond to fuse them all together. Found in the craft/sewing section of Wal-mart.

I took it over to my ironing board and followed the instructions.

Next I cut-up strips of matching fabric to ragamuffin the handle.

I tied them on and added some pretty ribbon with hot glue.

Wa-la, you've got yourself a pretty bag for Halloween.

Maddie is gonna love it one day.

Making Candy

Yesterday I made candy for with this fun Halloween kit. It was so easy and quick to do. I'm giving them out as treats for my friends with little ones. I used Almond Bark chocolates instead of the traditional round Wilson melts. It turned out just the same, if not better. I think the kids are really going to like these. Look how cute they came out.

Halloween Shirts

My kids have lots of Halloween shirts to wear this time of year. I think they are a lot of fun. You can buy them really cheap after the holiday's so I stock up for the next year. The kids love to wear them to school and the teachers always pay them several compliments. These are some of the fun shirts they have worn.

This shirt lights up in the dark! Cool huh?

Trick or Treat Pails

Every year I make up Halloween goodies for my friends with kids. I decided to personalize these black cauldron pails to hold their gifts. They can use them as trick or treat pails as well. I think they came out really cute. I made some up for my kids as well but I'm showing just these ones today.
