Pumpkin Project

If your kid ever comes home with a note from his third grade teacher and it says you have to create a pumpkin to look like your favorite character from a book....well let me show you what you might have to do.

This is how ours turned out. My Son loves those, Diary of a Wimpy Kid books that are so popular right now. He choose this for us {{rather me}} to do. How do you really bring a stick person to life? I had to think awhile, but I ended up just doing this.

I even gave this poor pumpkin some arms, legs and a backpack to match the cover of the book.

Here is my Son with the finish product. We were invited to his classroom to see the other students pumpkins they created. If I don't say so myself, I think ours was the best. ha!

Hot Chocolate & Coffee Station

In my house we drink a lot of hot beverages. So much so that I wanted to create a place in my kitchen that was set up for a quick cup of joe or hot chocolate. My kids love this idea. In the morning if I don't do it, they can make themselves a hot chocolate to go. I put out travel cups, packets of chocolate, sugar packets, and flavored creamers. All they have to do is pour in some hot water from the tea kettle. I decorated penny jars that I found at Walmart with some Halloween ribbon. I think I'll keep changing it for the season. I've filled one with single serve creamers and the other with hot chocolate packets. It's the pefect solution for the Fall weather and cold mornings we wake up to.

Pumpkin Spice is back! It's my favorite holiday flavor. Found this flavored coffee the other day. I have the creamer too so it's even twice as good.

These hot chocolates are for more special occassions but I'm loving them. If I want my hot chocolate served with a kick, I add coffee instead of hot water. My own little Starbucks cafe. Ha!

Projects

I added a little zebra stripe ribbon to the bottom of Maddie's pants for some added design this Halloween. Then I added some bling and bedazzeled it along the edge for some sparkle. I think it turned out cute.

Then I used pumpkin molds and poured plaster inside. One for each child to paint for Halloween. I helped with maddies of course. This stuff sets up really quick so I didn't get a chance to add their handprint to the back. I will have to do that with cement next time. They loved painting them. All very different and unique I would say.

Madison's

Jared's

Brittany's

I guess Brittany's pumpkin is bleeding and got shot or something. I don't know what this teenager is thinking these days?? Ha!

That's it for the projects around here for now. Christmas is coming, so they'll sure be some more coming my way.

Bright M & M's

I just realized that this time of year I tend to dress the kids in bright, bold colors. I love how it makes a picture pop and grab your attention. I took these pictures of the kids today. I really was in love with what they were wearing. Such pretty colors. Like a bowl of bright M & M's! :)

Oh and in case you are wondering, yes...I made Maddie that flower for her hair and the shirt with her name on it. I don't get time to do it as often as I would like to anymore, but I'm managed to make her something for the Halloween season. I think she looks so pretty with something in her hair. I wish she would let me do this more often.

Fall Fun

I took the kids to our local pumpkin patch for a hay ride, pumpkin picking and corn maze for some afternoon fun. It was Madison's first time and she thought all the pumpkins were just balls to bounce. So funny! At this farm they just have baby pumpkins, but they are perfect size for us to haul home. Here are some highlights from the trip.

Happy October

I did a little decorating this year. Not as much as last, but it's a start. I'm a bit busy to really go all out this time around. I have set out a few Fall reminders that Halloween is almost here.

In my kitchen, Candy in my glass pumpkin jar.

I let the kiddo's decorate small pumpkins with crazy felt faces. Much easier then carving them.

These pictures remind me of the haunted mansion. I love how they change when you look at them from a different angle.

Thats not all folks, I've got more to show. Just don't have the pictures yet. More to come. I'd thought I'd give you a preview for now.

Fall Treats

I like to make Fall treats for everyone. Something about this time of year makes me want to serve up carmel dipped apples, gooey covered popcorn, and chocolate M & M cookies. It'll add a pound or two on ya but they are just too good to pass up. You have to have one. This is what I made.

In one word, Yum! I'll show you the cupcakes I made tomorrow. If everyone lived closer, I'd share them with ya.

The Pumpkin Patch

Last year I took Brittany and Jared to the pumpkin patch. It was a lot of fun being on a real farm and getting to pick your own little pumpkin. They had a hay ride, corn maze, baby animals to feed and rows of pumpkin's to cut off the vine. These are some highlight's from that trip.

We hope to do it all again this year or find another to explore. We need some picture's of baby Madison at the pumpkin patch. That would be a great photo opportunity for me. The kids just love taking home there own hand picked baby pumpkin. It's another thing I love about being in the country.
