Birthday Party at the Movies

We just celebrated my Son's 9th birthday party at our local movie theater. It's the perfect party for any kid. Especially when Dreamworks puts out another great 3D movie like Megamind. All the kids loved the film and said they would want to go back the next day to see it. I'm so glad it came out to the theaters just in time for Jared's birthday party.

Can't you just smell the popcorn from here? As an added bonus, each child and adult got a small popcorn, small coke for being apart of the party. Wow!

The party room! Plenty of space for kids and adults. I set out food on the first table, the middle was where I set up the cake, and the last table I put the presents on.

He requested a Halo cake like the video game. Well I had to get creative there because they don't make halo cakes around here. At least they don't have a kit or pan to make it from. I decided to order the Batman cake at the bakery and had them leave off the batman toy. I bought some new small Halo toys and added it to the top like they were fighting each other. I printed out a Halo picture, laminated it and stuck it in the cake so everyone knew the toys were halo. Us old folks can't always tell what the kids are into these days. :)

He got the X-box game he's been wanting for awhile. He was so happy!

Kids so cool, they had to wear their shades!

Madison played in the arcade during the movie. A one year-old of course can't sit still long enough for a movie such as this, but I managed to find other things for her to do.

After the party, Jared gave me a big thank you hug for such a fun day! The other Mom's said they might have their kids parties at the movie theater next. I think I've started something now. Ha! If you haven't thrown a birthday party at a movie theater before, look into it for your kids. They will love you for it.

Pumpkin Project

If your kid ever comes home with a note from his third grade teacher and it says you have to create a pumpkin to look like your favorite character from a book....well let me show you what you might have to do.

This is how ours turned out. My Son loves those, Diary of a Wimpy Kid books that are so popular right now. He choose this for us {{rather me}} to do. How do you really bring a stick person to life? I had to think awhile, but I ended up just doing this.

I even gave this poor pumpkin some arms, legs and a backpack to match the cover of the book.

Here is my Son with the finish product. We were invited to his classroom to see the other students pumpkins they created. If I don't say so myself, I think ours was the best. ha!

Projects

I added a little zebra stripe ribbon to the bottom of Maddie's pants for some added design this Halloween. Then I added some bling and bedazzeled it along the edge for some sparkle. I think it turned out cute.

Then I used pumpkin molds and poured plaster inside. One for each child to paint for Halloween. I helped with maddies of course. This stuff sets up really quick so I didn't get a chance to add their handprint to the back. I will have to do that with cement next time. They loved painting them. All very different and unique I would say.

Madison's

Jared's

Brittany's

I guess Brittany's pumpkin is bleeding and got shot or something. I don't know what this teenager is thinking these days?? Ha!

That's it for the projects around here for now. Christmas is coming, so they'll sure be some more coming my way.

Crazy for Rubber Bands

It's all the rage. Kids out here are just crazy for these rubber bands and they are flying off the shelves. Stores can't keep them in stock. These crazy bands come in all sorts of colors and shapes. The kids pile them up their arms and wear as many as the can. Kinda like those jelly or friendship bracelets back in the day. This is the new thing that they all want now.

You wear them like this and then some.

Jared has his and wears them proud.

Is this sweeping the nation or is this just a Kentucky thing?

Run Jared Run

I'm talking today about Jared's baseball game. We spend every afternoon either at a game or at one of his practices. I'd thought I'd share some of the highlights with you guys.

He's up next...getting ready to bat.

Here are Jared's cheerleaders!

Ready to swing!

This is little man running the bases. Whew...it's enough to cause you to have a heart attack sometimes.

The games are a lot of fun for him and he wants to keep playing till he's 30 is what he said. Ha! We'll...we shall see about that. For now, it's good for him to get outside and play.

Take Me Out to the Ball Game

It's that time again. Where my boy is at bat and I'm there to cheer. He is with a new team we call "The Reds" for short. He looks really nice in his new team colors of red and white. This group of new boys are all having lots of fun and the coaches are really nice this year. Here are a few highlights from Jared's first game.

Jared is a switch hitter and his swing has improved by standing on the other side this year. I guess when you are left-handed you can bat from either the left or the right side of the home plate. I find that fascinating.

We look forward to another great baseball season ahead.

Jareds Halo Battlescene

My eight year old Son made a short video of his newly built Mega Bloks Halo toy set. One that Halo fans like him can really appreciate. :) He did such a great job with his tour I thought I'd share it here.

Coming to you Live

Today I thought I would post a short video of Madison. It's short because they take forever to upload off my computer. I don't know what the problem is? So here is Madison who has just learned how to pull herself up in the crib. Jared and I playing with her.

Spring Break Recap

Spring Break is over for us and it's back to life as usual. The kids are back at school and I'm trying to play catch up. Especially with this blog. I wasn't on the computer much. We had a fun filled week even though we stayed close to home. I tried to take small trips out of town and visit places we haven't been to in awhile.

Here's is the wrap up of our week.

We spent time at our favorite book store.

My favorite section..Hobbies & Crafts

Jared found the toy section of course.

We shopped at Target and couldn't leave without one of their icee.

Here is a very short clip of Jared and Madison. 10 seconds to be exact. I accidentally recorded this and just thought I would include it in today's pictures. Nothing to exciting other then Maddie opening her stroller safety tray with her foot. Yea, that's safe! I'm going to have to super glue it close or something. She is going to fall out one day.

We saw a couple of movies.

We ate at one of our favorite kid restaurants, Chick Fila.

We also watched Jared practice with his new team for baseball season. His games start up really soon.

Miss Maddie was there too, looking all cute in her little sun hat.

I worked on some craft projects that I will show you later.

That's about it. Gas Prices were not that bad in my neck of the woods. They did go up a little but we managed to do alot on the cheap. Can't wait till Summer so we can do it all again and more.
