Mission Organization

I've been keeping myself soooo busy just completely organizing EVERYTHING. I'm getting ready to move soon and want to make it as easy as possible. I'm putting everything in containers and purging what we don't need. I started in the kitchen, then moved to the basement, garage and now the kids rooms. You should see my yard sale pile. I've got a ton of stuff to sell which is good.

Here are some before and afters of my basement.

Before~Yikes!

After~Much Better!

I organized all our junk into big Rubbermaid storage containers. Filled them with like items. A couple for Christmas, Halloween Decor, Kid clothes and toys I want to keep.

I've added storage items in each child's room to help them get a little more organized to.

This contains my Son's mass amount of Lego's. He can see what he needs a lot easier.

This helps organize my teenage Daughter's make-up, hair accessories, and jewelry. It was just all over the counters and I couldn't take it any longer. So while she was at school, I did this to her shelf.

She ended up liking it.

My youngest is only a toddler so she has many preschool toys to contain. I put them into pretty soft boxes that coordinate with her Cinderella room decor.

Her coloring, board books and puzzles I put into these drawers. They make these storage bins in so many pretty colors. Of course I went with pink for her and then labeled each drawer to remind everyone what is to only go inside.

I haven't stopped there. I'm onto organizing my paper files and office supplies.
I put together a file box that sits next to our landing spot. This is where everything is dumped when the kids get home from school or come home from shopping. You'll find backpacks, coats, shoes, purses, keys and of course mail. So in order to organize the incoming/outgoing paper I created this system. It's even got the kids school lunch menu on the front so I always know what to tell the kids they're having.

I've seen many types of these file boxes in blogland so I can't take credit for it. It's just my version of their wonderful idea.

I'm a women on a mission to contain the clutter and organize everything. It's really starting to look better around here.

I Won A Giveaway!!!

I was so excited to learn I won a special giveaway being held over at http://clutterbug.me/. I have been faithfully following Cas and her wonderful cleaning/organizational tips for some time now. She shares her household tips through her blog and YouTube video's. Her giveaway was a box full of Cas' favorite cleaning supplies if she reached her goal of 1000 YouTube subscribers. Well I entered because I am a cleaning fool and to my surprise won when her channel grew in a matter of days. I knew she would have no problem getting there because she's such a riot and her video's are always so motivating for everyone who watches. You must subscribe if you haven't already. I want to help her reach her next goal of 5000 YouTube subscribers. The next lucky winner of that giveaway will get a roomba she says. Wow! Can you believe that? I know those little robot vacuum's are so wonderful to have. So please check out Maltose79 on YouTube and subscribe.

This is what came to me in the mail the other day. Sent all the way from Canada.

People might think I'm weird to get excited over cleaning products, but hey...I'm a neat girl. Clean makes me happy! :) Look scrub free for my bathroom. I've never tried this other product before maybe because it's only found in Canada? I think it's gonna be a new fav of mine though.

I always heard such great things about Method cleaners. I went out looking for them around my town but of course they don't sell them here. I was just about to order them online and then she sent me some. Yeah!

After giving them a try, my whole house smells wonderful. These products are scented and now I can't stop cleaning with the pink multi-purpose cleaner just to have that fresh grapefruit scent in the air. The blue glass cleaner smells like mint and the wipes are eucalyptus scented. I've got to try more of these products. I think I'm addicted.

She didn't stop there though. If that wasn't enough, she sent me a gift card to be able to purchase a Swiffer vac and mop. Isn't that just too much? I am thrilled and I have no excuse not to buy one now.

She also enclosed one of my favorite publications from Better Homes and Gardens. Whenever it comes out, I certainly grab one of the checkout shelf. She knows just what an organizing freak like me loves. There are sooooo many great ideas in this magazine. I can't put it down. If you want your home to look fab, you must pick up a copy for yourself.

All I can say is, Thank you soooo much Cas for all you sent. It was more then I ever expected to receive and I could not be happier. I'm using everything and it comes in perfect timing. We will be moving soon and will be needing all these supplies during the process.

Remember to check out her blog and enter her next giveaway!

Time To Organize

I'm organizing everything around our home. I've gone mad, but everything must be in order I've decided this year. Not only will it make the house look better, but run smoother too. I've been looking at other blogs who have inspired me to join their challenges. It feels good to have order and feel like I'm accomplishing a goal each day. This month I started in our basement and sorting through each box. I'm still not finished but it's a big task that should be done by Spring. I'll be ready for a big yard sale then.

Currently I just finished organizing my kitchen cupboards/pantry. I hated finding half empty boxes of crackers or cereal the kids would put back. Taking up extra space that could make room for some nice containers. So I decided to take everything out of their original boxes and just place them into bins. Every container is labeled by category and much easier for me to find. I took inventory of what I had on hand as well and was able to go to the store today knowing what I actually needed this time. I found the labels on my favorite blog, I Heart Organizing. Check her site out. You'll come to love her as I do.

I found all these matching green baskets at my dollar store. I didn't spend a lot on containers for this project.

Even my beverage cupboard got a little make-over. Luv it!

Good-Bye Ugly Boxes!

Under the Bathroom Sink

I just wanted to share with everyone how I organize in my bathroom to keep clutter at bay. Under my bathroom sink I have four rubbermaid storage containers that keep stuff like our health and beauty supplies tucked away. I don't have a medicine cabinet and I don't like them on the counter. Less is more and keeps my bathroom counter looking clean. I label everything too so everyone else knows what's inside.

Here is what I do to create more storage and organization under the bathroom sink.

There you have it! It works for me. Simple and keeps little toddler hands from getting into unsafe items. I would love to see how others organize under there sinks.

Dinner Menu Planning

I'm a Mom that is busy, busy, busy! When the kids get home from school, I have to hurry cook dinner for them and then I'm off to my night job. I started planning our dinner menus when I needed to get more organized. This way I knew what to shop for that week and everyone knew what was going to be for dinner that night.

Here is my fridge where I keep it posted.

It's just a wipe off calendar.

I also have my kids school lunch calendar on our fridge as well. They are always asking what they are having at school that day. Then it's a question to either buy lunch or pack a lunch.

So that's my set up for basic dinner planning in my house. I wish dinner cooked itself, but it doesn't. Ha! This is as close as I can get to that for now. :)

Clutterbug's Daily Calendar

Are you following "Clutterbug's Daily Calendar?" She's got a YouTube channel and a terrific blog (Organized Mummy) you should check out if you haven't already. I've been following her for sometime now and she is so cleaver I just love her. Great personality to boost. She gives us all sorts of tips on how to clean and be better organized. Clutterbug created a organizing plan for us all to get a little more done each day. If you want to download her calendar for yourself, hop over to her blog www.clutterbug.me. She has such great ideas and I am going to do my best to tackle these projects she suggest.

Here is my bulletin board that is covered in list's, schedules, and calendars right now. It's what I call my Mom central. It's the only way I can keep on top of things around here with work, school, kids and house.

I've got her November calendar printed and posted. The first week is all about organizing your money, finances and bills. The second we are going to start making a cleaning schedule. Third week we are onto the kitchen, then bedroom and bathroom areas.

I think it's really going to help me gain control of this dirty, out of control house monster. Who says cleaning just has to be done in the Spring? When you are stuck indoors during the cold months ahead, now is a perfect time to get those cleaning/organizing things done.

Gift Wrap Organization

I have a lot of wrapping paper, gift bags, bows & tissue that I keep for birthday's and such. I'm ready for any occasion. I've kept it stored in my craft closet. Well it's actually Madison's clothes closet now, but it still holds all my craft items. I have no where else to put it. I was running out of space and needed something to organize it all.. It needed some organization really bad since it's a very SMALL clothes closet.

{Exhibit A}

Look at that mess in there. It scares me every time I try to open the door. I just know it's all going to come tumbling down.

Then I came across this at Big Lots the other day. At last this is the answer to my prayers. Could it really fit all my gift wrapping items?

From this....

To this....
It holds my tissue paper on the bottom and gift bags in the many pocket above.

Look how nicely it holds those large rolls of wrapping paper!

What I like most is that it hangs nicely in the back where no one can see it. Whenever I do need some wrapping paper, it neatly organized and ready to go.

Aaaah...one less headache.

It's my new favorite thing.
