Wave your Flag!

Happy Memorial Day!

Everyone has the day off today except for my kids who had to go to school. Can you believe that? Whoever heard of such a thing? They are making up for a snow day but still way to ruin a 3 day weekend. I am celebrating today in more way then one. Looks like my prayers are starting to be answered and someone close to me has entered rehab for their alcoholism. Let's hope this helps us all to be happy, healthy and whole again. Wave those flags in support of those who have faught and are still fighting now.

It's been a VERY tough week for our family. I hope to be able to get back on track this week.

Crazy for Rubber Bands

It's all the rage. Kids out here are just crazy for these rubber bands and they are flying off the shelves. Stores can't keep them in stock. These crazy bands come in all sorts of colors and shapes. The kids pile them up their arms and wear as many as the can. Kinda like those jelly or friendship bracelets back in the day. This is the new thing that they all want now.

You wear them like this and then some.

Jared has his and wears them proud.

Is this sweeping the nation or is this just a Kentucky thing?

Beating the Heat

We had some HOT weather this weekend so I went out and bought some pools for the kids to cool off in. They had a lot of fun.

Madison's first pool. Isn't it cute?

She loved being in the water outside!

Here's a clip of her splashing and having fun.

The older two had their own small pool to soak in.

I had them side by side so they could all swim together.

Brittany playing games with Madison

Jared joined her and I don't know how managed to fit himself in that tiny pool.

I set up the table out on our deck with snacks, drinks & towels after they were done in the water.

Some of our favorite Summer snacks

I also had a BBQ later on in the afternoon. It felt like Summer was really here even though school isn't out for another 3 weeks. This is a preview of what's to come.

Birthday Crafts

I'm preparing for Madison's first birthday party already. I want this to be special so I'm hard at work crafting my little heart out.

M for Madison

The inspiration for this party...Polka Dot Ribbon that I love.

A preview of what the tableware will look like. Everything is going to be pink, blue & green.

I've even made the utensils pretty!

I've been hand painting buckets to match the decor. These might be used as the centerpieces for the tables and filled with snacks.

A little birthday sign that I framed for the party table.

This one says...Madison you take the cake!

Here's a banner I made from chipboard, painted, decoupaged the letters and strung them all together with the pretty polka-dot ribbon. It's hard to see with the glare from the light in the room but it just says...Happy Birthday Madison!

I found these bouncy balls for Maddie the other day. She loves playing with them and what do you know??? they match the party!

Oh and I'm not finished yet! There are more projects to complete. I'll be working on them this Summer. This is just what I've completed as of now. What do you think?

Ready for the Movie

The kids wanted to see the new Shrek 3D movie so before they went I stocked up on our favorite candies. You can't watch a movie without some great candy to take with you.

It's sad that Shrek is coming to an end. These tickets might be valuable one day?

While I was there I purchased my "Eclipse" ticket for the midnight showing June 29th! I'm going with a group of my favorite friends. It should be really fun. I've never been to a midnight showing before. Can't wait!

A month away...but I'm ready!

They ran the preview trailer for Dreamworks new movie "MegaMind" the one Jared will see at his birthday party. I think it's gonna be a good one for the kids to see. I hope they come out with partyware like they have for their other movies.

Back to the Doctor

Well....Madison is sick again. Poor babies has another cold and ear infection. She's also needing eye drops for what looks like the start of an eye infection. It never ends. I don't know where she keeps picking up these germs? Her big Sis and Brother have kinda been sick so I think they might have passed something onto her.

This is what we did today. I took her to the doctor for more medicine to hopefully nip it in the butt.

We always seem to get the fish room. They have one that's a farm scene that the kids really like being in when they are there. Each room has a theme.

She can't leave the cords alone for one minute. I always think...why do they put them right above their heads within their reach? They should move it if they don't want kids to play with it. Am I right here?

I think the table is cute too. It's part of a train. I think we got the caboose.

I hope she feels better soon. I just can't believe how many times she's been sick this year.

Sneak Peak

At Madison's Birthday Decorations!

I've been hard at work already on planning her FIRST BIRTHDAY PARTY! I realize she doesn't turn ONE till July, but it's never to early to start crafting. For the past month I've been in my craft room just making banners, signs and party ware for this special day. Call me crazy, but I love to craft so this is not work at all to me. It's more like fun and it provides an escape for me to get my mind off things that are stressing me out.

Here is a sneak peak at the wall/door sign decorations.

I'm going with pink, blue and green polka dot theme for her party. So that's why I made the signs round.

There is a ton of things I haven't taken pictures of yet. I think I'll do that today and post them later today/tomorrow so you can see what I'm talking about. Most everything is going to be handmade by me because I don't like what they sell in the stores. I might be able to use it again for the following years as well. All I have to do is change the number and I'm good.

All because this little girl is going to be turning ONE! I can't believe it. Where did the time go?

Stay tuned for more party pic's and details to come!

Our New Ride

I WISH!

Their Dad brought this by the other day so we could see how cool this Marine Hummer vehicle is. Inside there is all sorts of gadgets and toys. I don't know why I didn't get a picture of the interior, but trust me it was cool.

There's even an X-Box, big flat-screen TV inside. Jared could live in this car.

It gets a lot of attention where ever it goes. It's just a promotional vehicle for the Marines and I guess it was here for an event. Usually we see it at the fair or festivals.

My old car just got back from the shop. Yeah! It's so great to have wheels again. I don't enjoy walking everywhere even though it's good exercise for me. I'd rather just drive to the bus stop. LOL I wish I was getting back a car equipped with all the features of the Hummer but I'm just happy to have a running car at this point.

Kiddie Corral

Everything is OK at the kiddie corral! I am loving this new gate that keeps curious little kids from wandering about.

She's kinda like these Guinea Pigs we watch on YouTube. Ha!

It's still yucky here. We both feel caged up right now being stuck in the house in this weather.

Someone Likes Dora

Well...I was desperate and needed a break. I actually broke down and did it you guys. I turned on Nick Jr for Madison. She's been getting into everything so I thought this might entertain her for a nano-second. Guess what? It worked!

She loves Dora!

I think it has a lot to do with the bright colors and the child like voices. I was able to get a lot done while she watched the show. I guess there is a whole new generation that will be in love with her. She's been on TV forever, I'm surprised it's still on the air? I heard they are making new episodes and she's a teenager. As long as they don't bring back Barney, I'm gonna be okay. Blue's Clues...maybe?
