Schools Out For Summer

School ended late this year so we were able to go to the pool before it got out. This is my kids at the pool. Maddie and I just watched this time around.

He's finally tall enough this Summer to go down the water slides. Jared LOVED them and couldn't get enough. I was afraid he wouldn't be able to swim in the deep end, but he's doing it. I guess he's finally a swimmer. He taught himself.

School is finally over for the year. I now have one going into High School and the other going into an upper Elementary grade starting this Fall. They are both really excited and will be celebrating with many more trips to the pool.

Watch for Children

Each afternoon my two older kids take the school bus home. I meet them at the corner because the walk is scary. The street is so busy, I worry about their safety. The cars race right next to you. It's like the game Frogger almost. They have a major street to cross by themselves. If I'm not with them, I don't know if they would be seen. Although the bus driver flashes his lights and puts out his stop sign, it's still not going to slow down some. This is what we do each afternoon.

It's either this or pick them up at school each day. With a newborn I can't get out like I use to. So taking the bus is easier in a way, but still a nightmare.

Back to School in JULY?

It's back to school time already. It sure comes fast. I made it a point to start shopping now so we can get all the good stuff before it's picked over. Plus with the baby coming, I'm not gonna feel like doing much later. So the kids and I went to the stores this past week. We picked up some goodies. Have you seen Walmart's latest AD? This is the time to stock up on paper, crayons, glue and folders.

This is what Brittany has picked out for the start of her 8Th grade year.

Isn't her stuff just so pretty. I just love the colors they make the spiral notebooks in and binders. I wish my stuff was as nice back in the day.

I hope people don't think we picked Madison's middle name off stationary products. ha-ha

This is what Jared has picked out for the start of his 2ND grade year. A new backpack and lunch box. Not to mention a new toy that has nothing to do with school. Maybe he can take it for show and tell one day.

He's really into the new GI Joe stuff right now can you tell? The movie is coming out soon so I'm able to find these things in the stores now. He's always been into the Camo/Army/Marine themes so this is perfect for him.

We've been shopping for shoes, clothes and accessories as well. Maybe I can get the kids to model them for the camera one day soon. We are half-way done, thank goodness. School starts back up for us August 12Th so it's around the corner. I hope I'm able to get a lot more done this week.

End of the Year Teacher's Gift

I never had the chance to blog about the gift I made for my Son's teacher. Before I start blogging about Summer, here is what I did for the end of the school year. I tried my hand at making the teachers a custom clipboard. I think it came out pretty good myself.

I used a gift bag as my inspiration and background for this project.

I added some pretty ribbon to the top.

On the back of the clipboard I personalized it with her name in stickers.

I also got her a few other goodies to go with the clipboard.

It all fit nicely in the bag.

Another happy teacher.
