I love the Gooseberry cookbook line as well. I don't have them all yet, but I will one day. I just picked these up from the library. I'm going to be giving them a read through before the day is done.
Here is one of my favorite recipes I'll share with you. It's from one of my favorite restaurants. Good ole' Southern cooking.
Cracker Barrel's Chicken & Dumplings Recipe
3 Qt Water
1 3-4 lb Chicken cut-up
1 1/2 teas. Salt
1 Small Onion sliced
2 Stalks Celery, chopped
1 Clove Garlic-peeled & Quartered
1 Bay Leaf
4-6 Whole Parsley Leaves
1 teas. Ground Black Pepper
1 Tb. Lemon Juice
(Add all above ingredients in large pot and cook for 2 hours)
Dumplings Mix
2 Cups Flour
1 Tb. Baking Powder
1 1/4 teas. Salt
1 Cup Milk
Mix above ingredients until soft dough forms. Drop dumplings in boiling hot stew right before you're ready to serve. Cook for another 10 minutes and Enjoy!
Is this making you hungry? It is me, I think I'll make a pot for our supper.

Stacy, I never knew you liked to cook so much. So do I except I'm the only one here to eat what I make. I must have a hundred cookbooks covering every type of food and have often wondered what would come of them when I've passed. Now I know! Weather here has cooled to fall like temps. Your chicken and dumpling recipe sounds like just the thing, think I'll try it.

I do like to cook when I'm in the mood for it. Especially in the cooler months when you want to warm up the kitchen. I love cookbooks. I can always use more. :) Yes, try the chicken & dumplings. You'll feel like you're in Kentucky. LOL
